A project to improve drainage on Jenks Avenue is completed and the road is now fully reopened between Baldwin Road and 26th Street. The replacement of two existing 48-inch cross drains with a double box culvert will alleviate stormwater runoff problems caused by tropical storms and heavy winter rainfall.

Bay County to honor K-9 veterans

Bay County to honor K-9 veterans A ceremony commemorating March 13 as K-9 Veterans Day begins at noon Saturday at the Veterans Memorial Path near the Veterans Monument at Pier Park on Panama City Beach. The event will feature K-9 units from the Bay County Sheriff's Office as well as the BCSO Honor Guard for a 21-gun salute. Representatives of other local law enforcement agencies will be on hand as well as local officials. Several speakers will highlight the contributions of these valuable animals and their handlers.

Federal government to begin 2010 Census, jobs available It's time to stand up and be counted, Bay County. The federal government will soon begin mailing out the U.S. Census for completion by April 1. This year's Census is shorter and simpler than ever to complete, consisting of only 10 questions that take about 10 minutes to answer. Participating in the Census is important to Bay County - information collected here affects how many seats our state occupies in Congress and helps determine how more than $400 billion in federal funding is spent each year on infrastructure and services like hospitals, schools and emergency services. When you receive your Census in the mail, be sure to complete and return it and be counted! And, if you're looking for work, hundreds of Census jobs are still available in this area.
